Rotary Honors Night honorees urged to find their passion in life

A Columbus Zoo and Aquarium official urged high-achieving Logan County high school seniors to find their passion in life and to build up and construct their own career pathway, starting with a strong foundation forged at home, during the 41st annual Rotary Honors Night Wednesday evening at Bellefontaine High School.
Speaker Emily Wieringa, director of construction at the zoo and also a BHS graduate, addressed the nearly 160 high school students from districts around the county, each of whom has earned an accumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher during their high school careers, at the Bellefontaine Rotary Club hosted event.
Mrs. Wieringa said she is thankful for the strength of her foundation built in her younger years with the support of friends and family. However, when she graduated high school and went to Purdue University to study civil engineering, her supportive “cheerleaders” were four hours away, and she had to forge on to build up a strong structure for her life and career.
“There were times in my first months in college where I just wanted to give up and come home, but I knew this was a challenge I had to overcome.”
