Eric D. Crenshaw, 54, of Columbus, was arrested Wednesday when he was found in possession of a reported stolen sport utility vehicle at 1:55 a.m.
Crenshaw exited the parked SUV at Madriver Marathon, 200 E. Sandusky Ave., as an officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department approached the vehicle to verify a vehicle theft alert out of Franklin County.
The alert was current and a receiving stolen property warrant for Crenshaw was confirmed.
He was arrested on the warrant and then charged with possession of crack cocaine after officers seized an eyeglass container containing a small baggie with the drug from the vehicle.
Crenshaw was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
• Officers acted on information provided to dispatchers on Tuesday to recover a 2021 Ford F650 reportedly stolen from Lady Lake, Fla. The vehicle was found around 3:45 p.m. parked at Tractor Supply Co., 1651 S. Main St.
Charges filed in domestic cases
Aaron M. Mertz, 42, of 520 Eastern Ave., was charged Saturday, Aug. 27, with domestic violence and lodged in jail on a probation violation.
He allegedly threatened to harm his father, mother and sister. He was upset his parents are moving out of the Eastern Avenue residence which will leave him homeless, officers report.
• Tyler R. Karg, 48, of 1000 Garfield Ave., Lot 28, was charged Thursday, Aug. 25, with two counts of domestic violence.
Officers met with the suspect and Francesca Lyburtus at the residence around 11:10 a.m. The defendant allegedly attacked Lyburtus after she woke him up to pick up their daughter.
She claims he slammed his head into her’s and struck the left side of her head with his right hand. She had visible injuries from the incident and separate assault from Aug. 20.
He was lodged in jail but bonded out in the afternoon.
Teen faces two counts for brandishing BB-gun
Scott Rowan, 15, of 1316 S. Detroit St., was charged Friday, Aug. 26, with two counts of delinquency aggravated menacing.
He allegedly exited a sport utility vehicle on Plumvalley Street near Water Avenue around 5:20 p.m., brandished a BB-gun and threatened to shoot two teenage boys riding bicycles.
He was one of three teens in a SUV stopped four hours later on Ludlow Road near Lake Avenue. A BB-gun handgun, a large hunting knife and a marijuana pipe were found in the vehicle.
Officers report the suspect admitted to brandishing the gun at the victims.
He was lodged in the Central Ohio Youth Center in Marysville.
