ERIC GEORGE |
A city resident was indicted on a second-degree felony in connection with a drug-related death while his wife and father face intimidation of a witness charges.
Eric W. George, 31, of 540 Eastern Ave., was charged by a Logan County grand jury with corruption of another with drugs for the Jan. 24 incident that led to the death of Katie Foreman Turner.
He was also indicted for two counts of trafficking in drugs, fourth- and fifth-degree felonies; deception to obtain a dangerous drug and illegal use of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, both fifth-degree felonies.
Authorities began investigating him after Ms. Turner’s death of a prescription drug overdose, but because the autopsy indicated multiple causes of death, including a pre-existing heart condition, authorities believed it would be difficult to prove an involuntary manslaughter case, Logan County Prosecutor Eric Stewart said.
Investigators with the Logan County Joint Drug Task Force made a controlled drug buy on May 2 and arrested George the following day at the Ohio Driving School, where he was an instructor.
There is no evidence he sold drugs to any of the teenagers he had contact with through the school, Mr. Stewart said.
His wife, Amanda George, 32, and his father, David A. George, 52, each was charged with third-degree felony counts of intimidating a witness or victim for threatening the individual who made the controlled drug buy.
