A cot system rated to lift up to 700 pounds was installed Thursday in a Bellefontaine Fire & EMS Department squad, ushering in the future of patient loading and transports.
Jillian Downey with Stryker Medical, a Kalamazoo, Mich., firm, said such $40,000 systems meet safety mandates set in 2015.
“It meets the new crash safety standards,” she said while taking a break from training for the department’s staff. “Old cot systems are rated for 2Gs while this system can handle 26Gs in a head-on collision and 12Gs in other directions.”
