Bellefontaine’s girls swim team won a five-team meet Saturday at the Shelby County Y, while the Chieftain boys team came in second.
Amy Fulmer set two records and the two BHS squads combined for 10 first-place finishes.
The Chieftain girls won with 152 points, Urbana was a distant second with 53 points, Benjamin Logan was third with 51 points, host Sidney was fourth with 49 points and Indian Lake was fifth with one points.
The Yellow Jackets took the boys meet with 166 points, the Chieftains were second with 46 points, the Hillclimbers were third with 42 points, the Lakers took fourth with 26 points and the Raiders were fifth with 17 points.
“Several swimmers took on new events in order to get times before the Central Buckeye Conference meet and excelled with these new positions,” said BHS head coach Sharon Lewis. “That included Maddie Dailey and Caroline Eader in 100 back and Jared Salyer in 500 free, while many swimmers continued to drop time including Brandon Gamble with his second personal best of the weekend in 100 butterfly. We are proud of our team for continuing to be willing to mix it up as we prepare to fight for the highest positions at CBC championships this coming weekend.”
