The first half of Bellefontaine’s season was a resounding success. Now, the Chiefs begin their hunt for a second straight Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail division championship.
The Chiefs, who are 4-1 and coming off a 49-20 victory over rival Benjamin Logan, host Tecumseh for the Kenton Trail division opener Friday at AcuSport Stadium. It will also be homecoming for the Chiefs.
“We take our season one game at a time, so the fact this is a league game doesn’t make it any different,” said Bellefontaine head coach Toby Smith. “We have to keep our focus on the opponent at a hand and do the things we are capable of doing.”
Tecumseh enters Friday’s matchup with a 2-3 record. The Arrows started the season with losses to Fairborn, Vandalia Butler and Bellbrook, but they bounced back with wins over Northwestern and Urbana over the last two weeks.
“They have a physical quarterback, a quick tailback and a quick wide receiver,” said Smith. “They are a physical football team, so we need to be prepared to take on their physicality.”
