Charles W. Brown, 85, of Zanesfield, passed away Thursday morning, Sept. 6, 2018, at his residence with his loving wife by his side.
Born Oct. 23, 1932, in Falcon, Ky., he was a son of the late Noah and Pearl Conley Brown. He also was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he was awarded at least eight Bronze Stars.
Upon his honorable discharge from the service, he returned to Columbus where he worked and eventually retired as a brand manager with Columbus Distributing.
Known for his great story telling, Charles enjoyed fishing, but his true passion was either building a new home or restoring an old home. He also attended the North Greenfield United Methodist Church.
On June 25, 1983, in Harrisburg, he married his wife of 35 years, Imogene “Imo” Brooks Brown, and she survives, along with his children, Dennis (Kathy) Brown and Dorinda (Dave) England, both of Commercial Point, Nick Brown of Columbus and Mary (Tom) Gorley of Surprise, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Brown of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Wilson Funeral Home, Schnurrenberger Chapel, 222 W. Center St., West Mansfield, where calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10. The Rev. Linda Dulin-Moore officiates and burial follows at North Greenfield Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Logan County Honor Guard.
