Charles David Hudson Hooper, 73, of Bellefontaine, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, Oct. 22, 2016, at his residence following a long illness.
He was born in Alabama City, Ala., on June 4, 1943, to the late Waldo “Skinny” and Dorothy Merriman Hudson. He also was preceded in death by his adopted father, George Hooper, sister, Kitritha Queen, brothers Johnny and Jack Hudson and grandson. Eliot Stephens.
On July 2, 1983, he married Gloria Jenkins Snyder in Bellefontaine and she survives along with his adoptive mother, Donna Hooper of Georgia; son, David (Sandy) Hooper of Powell; daughters, Kelly (Jay) Sage of Bellefontaine and Kay Kuck of St. Marys; grandchildren, Kurt (Stephanie) Stephens, Cy Stephens, Alex (Robbie) Axline, Paige McPherson, Emma Kuck, Seth Kuck, Ethan Kuck, Ryan (Christi) Hooper and Kylee Hooper; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Dylan, Amaya, Jerrik and Jacinda Pearl; sisters, Sandra Hensley and Kathy Fisher, both of Georgia; brother, Brett Campbell of Wapakoneta; stepchildren, David (Laura) Rutherford and Shannon (Aaron) Trocano; stepgrandkids, Cole Stone, Jake Sage, Justin (Destiny) Sage, Aaron Rutherford and Billy Goheen; great-stepgrandkids, Kylan, Blake, Liam and Jayce; and many nieces and nephews.
Charles enjoyed being with his family. He enjoyed working with horses, singing, playing his guitar, yard work and spending time with his dog. Charles was definitely a comedian and prankster and loved to make people laugh.
Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St. Bellefontaine, where a funeral service begins at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26. Pastor Brad Angus officiates and burial is in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
