Logan County Auditor Jack Reser announces that the renewal forms and application for Current Agriculture Use Valuation program are currently available at the Logan County Auditor’s website at www.co.logan.oh.us.
Additionally, the Auditor’s office is mailing the forms for the renewal applications.
A response is required by Monday, March 7, for the program.
The CAUV program ensures that qualified agricultural producing properties (those of either 10 acres or more, or with a minimum income of $2,500 per year) are appraised based on production rate calculated by the State of Ohio (not on the land’s market value).
A one-time $25 application fee and a yearly renewal are required.
The passage of the 2017 Budget Bill, the Ohio Legislature made a significant change to how land used exclusively for “conservation practices” is valued under the Current Agricultural Use Value program.
Land used for “conservation practices” enrolled in the CAUV program will be valued at the lowest value on the soil value table. For tax year 2019, if being used exclusively for “conservation practices”, the value for the land would be $230 per acre.
The change is in effect for Logan County for the 2022 tax year. Landowners must submit all required documentation to qualify.
To qualify, the landowner must provide the following documentation:
• An updated 2022 CAUV new or renewal application. Every year thereafter, you will be required to include and verify the number of conservation acres on your renewal application.
• Copy of Conservation contract with a government agency.
• Detailed map that shows the exact area, on each parcel, which are under contract and/or used exclusively for “conservation practices.”
• You must maintain the “conservation practices” for minimum of three years to benefit from the additional savings.
The Auditor’s Office has included with your application guidelines to determine for what your property qualifies.
If you have any questions, contact the Auditor’s Office at CAUV or (937) 599-7209.
