Carl D. Renkert, 83, of Zanesfield, passed away at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Logan County, on March 7, 1937 to the late Harold Keller and Helen Elizabeth (Carter) Renkert. On June 29, 1959, he married the love of his life, Linda Lou (Lenhart) Renkert and she survives.
Along with his wife of 60 years; he is also survived by his sons, Michael (Kris) Renkert and Jeffrey (Angie) Renkert, grandchildren, Janalea (Dennis Hooker) Jones, Dylan Renkert, and Whitney (Cody Pugh) Renkert; 14 great grandchildren, Austyn, Amiah, Adyen, and Axtyn Jones, Adelynne, Tharyn, and Hudson Renkert, Nash Pugh, Dillon, Kaeleigh, and Colton Hooker, Kaylie, Braxton, and Macie Pugh; a brother, Richard (Barbara) Renkert; sisters, Barbara (Don) South, and Margret “Peggy” (Charles) Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
Carl loved to farm. He worked at Westinghouse, was an electrician with his son at Renkert Electric, and worked for ODOT before retiring. Carl was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was a member of the Zanesfield United Methodist Church. Carl loved watching The Ohio State Buckeyes football and basketball teams. He also loved watching all his great grandchildren in their sporting events. All who knew and loved Carl will miss him.
A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine. Pastor Jessica Cavinee will officiate a funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, March 20, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Zanesfield Cemetery with military rites provided by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
