Jeramy Fitzpatrick’s home brewed jalapeno and raspberry beer has become a favorite among his friends and family.
This week, it may become a favorite among craft brew aficionados in Columbus, Dayton and West Central Ohio.
Dubbed Jallé Berry by his Brewfontaine partner, Brian Wall, the spicy, fruity ale is making its debut through a collaboration with Toxic Brewing Co. in Dayton.
“They (the operators of Toxic) did a tap takeover at Brewfontaine and we got to talking about the beer,” Mr. Fitzpatrick said. “They said, ‘That sounds good. Why don’t you come down to Dayton and brew it?’”
He took them up on the offer and put together a 250-gallon batch that will be distributed in kegs to 10 location aside from Brewfontaine.
Mr. Fitzpatrick, Mr. Wall and Adam Rammel opened Brewfontaine in November as a tap room and restaurant.
They do not have commercial brewing capabilities and Mr. Fitzpatrick cannot sell his homemade beers.
For six or so years, he has experimented with home brewing, creating five- or 10-gallon batches.
The switch to a commercial operation went smoothly, he said.

“It’s a lot easier when a facility is set up for a professional brewer,” he said.
He tweaked his recipe to make sure it was not too spicy hot.
“You can still taste the jalapeno without too much heat,” Mr. Fitzpatrick said. “The raspberry is there and gives the beer a pink color.”
It features Columbus and Cascade hops and has a alcohol by volume rating of five percent.
Brewfontaine will have five 15.5-gallon barrels to serve customers.
“I’m excited and nervous about the release,” Mr. Fitzpatrick said. “I hope everybody likes it as much as I and my friends like it.”
Aside from local availability, Jallé Berry will be on tap at Toxic, the Pint Room in Dublin, the Daily Growler in Upper Arlington, Ollie’s Place in Centerville, Vino Bellissimo in Lima, Wine Works in Springfield, Brothers Drake Meadery in Columbus, Karoc Marathon Corner Deli in Sidney, Bunkers Sports Bar and Grill in Vandalia and Lucky’s Taproom & Eatery in Dayton.
