More than 80 Indian Lake High School students, staff and members of the community rolled up their sleeves and donated blood for the recent Students Against Destructive Decisions Blood Drive.
SADD Club Advisor Deb Metzger said the group exceeded their donation goal, with a total of 83 pints collected, including 37 first-time donors.
The Community Blood Center reports that blood is needed every two seconds. About one in seven people entering a hospital needs blood. Blood is always needed for treatment of accident victims, cancer patients, hemophiliacs and surgery patients.
Indian Lake Schools will host another Community Blood Center drive in conjunction with the National Honor Society chapter in the spring.
