Officials from Benjamin Logan High School have recently learned that the school has been awarded a Google Data Center Community Grant.
Jason Smith, high school information technology and robotics teacher, wrote the $15,000 grant to purchase 10 laptop computers for use in his classroom.
These computers will be utilized by the students to enhance and explore new opportunities that are not available on student Chromebooks. Some of the activities that are planned include 3D design and fluid motion testing prior to 3D printing.
The applications will enable students to test their designs in a virtual wind or water tunnel before printing their design and using them in the real world.
The grant-funded laptops will also be used in other classes to provide students with experience with software they are likely to encounter in future careers within computer science, robotics or engineering fields.
