Billie Jean Beck, 91, of Columbus, formerly of Lakeview, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021, at her home.
Billie Jean was born on August 10, 1930, in Lima, OH, a daughter of the late Merle “Lefty” and Delma Jean Settlemire. She married Bob Beck on February 24, 1952, and he preceded her in death on September 26, 2019.
Billie Jean is survived by three children, Tony (Nancy) Beck of Huntsville, Dale Beck of Lakeview, and Karen (Larry) Hoffman of Dublin, OH, seven grandchildren, Amber (Matt) Duquette, Sheli (Max) Hill, Jennifer Beck, Brian (Stephanie) Beck, Kristen (Ed) Mangum, Melissa (Wiley) Woodard, and Tyler Hoffman, six great grandchildren, Henry and Margot Duquette, Elliot and Ruby Hill, Elle Mangum, and Abigail Beck.
Billie Jean was a 1948 graduate of Stokes Local Schools and graduated from Lima Business School. She worked in the office for Charles Settlemire and Bill Shirk in Lakeview prior to owned and operated Beck’s IGA in Lakeview from 1973-1993 with Bob. Billie Jean attended Indian Lake Community Church and was a member of Indian Lake Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed bicycle riding and dancing with Bob, reading, cats, and watching the OSU Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds. Billie Jean loved her family and attending her grandchildren’s events.
Pastor Jim Ellington will begin funeral services at 4 p.m. Monday, October 11, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview, with visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given in Billie Jean’s name to Indian Lake Community Church Music Department.
