Bellefontaine’s girls swim team had a stellar showing at the Trotwood-Greenon Sprint Invitational on Saturday, placing second out of 21 teams.
The Lady Chiefs won six of eight events and set three meet records.
On the boys side, Bellefontaine finished 11th.
Sisters Amy and Emily Fulmer had a big day to lead the Chieftain girls. Amy Fulmer set a pair of meet records with wins in the 100 individual medley and 50 backstroke.
Emily Fulmer set a meet record with a win in the 50 butterfly and also won the 50 freestyle.
The Fulmer sisters joined Molly Schulz and Shelby Starkey to win the medley relay and freestyle relay.
Also for the Lady Chiefs, Starkey placed fifth in the 50 butterfly and second in the 50 backstroke, Schulz was seventh in the 50 freestyle and fourth in the 50 backstroke, Zoe Price was 11th in the 100 individual medley, Lauran Barthauer was 13th in the 50 breaststroke and the medley B relay team of Price, Jenna Champion, Barthauer and Alexandria Rodriguez took 11th.
For Bellefontaine’s boys, Wyatt Skidmore was 10th in the 50 breaststroke, Ben Brunswick finished 12th in the 50 breaststroke, Quinton Bible was 12th in the 100 individual medley and 12th in the 50 butterfly, Blake Phillips finished 14th in the 50 breaststroke and the group of Connor Adelsberger, Skidmore, Bible and Jacob Childs finished 11th in the medley relay and 13th in the 200 freestyle relay.
“Every day we are working to improve the little things,” said Bellefontaine head coach Sharon Lewis. “Our focus is not on our times or places yet. It is making each swim better than the last. We are working to build up our middle, to get more scoring athletes as that is what places teams high at the end of the season. I am proud of our athletes for a great effort.”
