Bellefontaine City Schools officials announced that the school has awarded its first ever Honor STEM Diplomas to Class of 2020 graduates Jacob Shell and Dustin VanBuskirk.
“BCS is extremely proud of the work completed by Jacob and Dustin, and wishes both students further success in their future educational endeavors.”
Both students submitted 120 plus page portfolios documenting why they should be considered for this specialized diploma.
In addition, to qualify for this prestigious diploma, Jacob and Dustin completed all of the Ohio Department of Education requirements such as GPA, ACT/SAT Scores, STEM Courses, and field experiences.
Jacob and Dustin’s projects covered topics such as CAD, CAM, Robotics and programming code while integrating math, science, and technology into the engineering solutions.
Both students also were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society this year.
Jacob plans to attend The Ohio State University as a pre-major in engineering, with intentions for biomedical engineering.
Dustin plans to attend Ohio Northern University and has been accepted into the College of Arts & Sciences to focus on manufacturing technology.
