Betty Ann Heath, 89, of Quincy, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family at 8:50 a.m. Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
On Feb. 27, 1945, Betty married Paul Merlin Heath in Richmond, Ind., and he preceded her in death Oct. 8, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her great-grandson, Steven Barrett Carpenter; and a brother, James Schneider.
Betty is survived by her four children, Rick Heath and Sue (Bill) Weiskittle, both of Quincy, Carol (Bill) Finfrock of DeGraff, and Deb French of Christiansburg; eight grandchildren, Brian (Kathy Stevens) Weiskittle, Heather Finfrock, Shari (Ronald) Criswell-Sikes, Shane (Nicci) Heath, Molly (Robb) Carpenter, Paul (Megan Irwin) Finfrock, Erin (Richie) Roof and Abbey (Sean Maroney) Niefer; 13 great-grandchildren, Amber (Cole Duncan) Weiskittle, Tyler Weiskittle, Ashley Latham, Jordan Heath, Sarah Carpenter, Andrew Carpenter, Ian Carpenter, Chelsea Giles, Shelby Giles, Riley Giles, Zaiden Maroney, Rylan Stevens and Madeline Stevens; a brother, Robert (Mildred) Schneider; two sisters-in-law, Elenora Schneider and LaDonna Heath; several nieces and nephews, with whom Betty was very close; and a special friend, Maddie Bell.
Betty was a graduate of Rosewood High School and retired as a cook from Riverside School. She was a strong woman and devout member of the Quincy United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for several years. She and her husband, Paul, were long-time dairy and crop farmers in the Quincy area. They were members of the Midwest Draft Horse & Mule Association, and enjoyed traveling in their motorhome. A great cook, mother and grandmother; Betty enjoyed attending bluegrass festivals, corn husking contests, fishing at Lake Erie, mushroom hunting and going to horse races to watch their horses run.
Pastor Jerry Lewis officiates a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at the Quincy United Methodist Church, where calling is two hours prior to the service. Burial follows in Fairview Cemetery, Quincy.
