Benjamin Logan Schools students Cameron Epp, Ammon Miller, Sarah Seeley, Chance Frater and Nora Elliott each earned superior ratings at the District Science Day at Ohio Northern University March 17, and advances to the State Science Day May 12 at The Ohio State University.
Both Sarah and Nora earned perfect scores at the district competition. Fifth-grader Nora’s project was titled, “Engineering of E coli to Produce Green Fluorecent Protein,” and Sarah’s project is “Soybean Peroxidase.”
Sarah also won the award for best plant science project and the Soybean Council Award. Nora won the $250 529 College Advantage Plan Award.
Chance Frater won the Best Microbiology Project Award for his “Medieval Remedy.”
Cameron and Ammon worked together on a project titled, “Skate Rate.”
Also at the district event, excellent ratings were awarded to Devin Stalling for his “Planaria Regeneration,” and Samantha Tromblay and Madison Manns for their project, “Effectiveness of Different Mouthwashes on Streptococcus salivarius.”
