The Benjamin Logan Board of Education is hiring an interim superintendent to lead the district for the 2020-21 school year.
School officials reported Friday that the board has decided to hire recently retired Sidney City Schools superintendent John Scheu for the interim position.
After extensive interviews with several superintendent candidates, much feedback from the community, and hours of deliberation, board members were unable to come to a consensus during the recent superintendent search.
As a result, the Benjamin Logan Board of Education has decided that it is “in the long-term best interest of the students, staff, and community to extend the effort to find the perfect person to lead the district into the future,” members said in a release.
Scheu will take over for Midwest Regional Educational Service Center Superintendent Scott Howell, who has led the district for the past several weeks.
A 19-year veteran superintendent, Scheu also served he has served as superintendent, principal and assistant principal at a number of area schools, including a five-year superintendent stint at Riverside Local Schools.
“He is a respected member of the education community in Logan, Hardin and Shelby Counties,” board members said in the release.
The board extended their thanks to each and every staff member and community representative who participated in the superintendent search process.
