The Bellefontaine Shade Tree Commission received a $50,000 grant today to plant new trees and beautify the streetscape throughout downtown.

The Dayton Power and Light Company awarded its two annual Right Tree, Right Place grants to the cities of Bellefontaine and Vandalia during a presentation this morning in Dayton, the company announced.
In addition to replacing about 40 pear trees downtown with more appropriate trees, Bellefontaine’s request includes money for improvements to the pineapple fountain and surrounding landscape in front of the Logan County Courthouse, new bicycle racks throughout downtown, replacement of concrete planting pots and energy-efficient LED lighting in street lamps, Shade Tree Commission Chairwoman Shelley Moore said.
