Bellefontaine’s girls basketball team overcame a slow start against host Kenton Ridge on Wednesday and rallied for a 47-40 win in Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail division action.
The Chieftains improve their record to 10-9 overall and 4-4 in the CBC Kenton Trail. The Cougars drop to 7-12, 1-7.
Kenton Ridge jumped ahead 9-2 after the opening quarter, but Bellefontaine came storming back in the second quarter with a 19-12 run. That tied the game 21-21 at halftime.
The Chieftains inched ahead in the third quarter by outscoring the Cougars 14-10 to build a 35-31 advantage. They put Kenton Ridge away for good with a 12-9 effort in the fourth quarter.
Hannah Rader poured in 25 points to power the Chiefs on offense. Lexxi Gorham tallied six points and Tayteum Vigansky added five points.
In junior varsity action, Bellefontaine outlasted Kenton Ridge 35-31. Katie Pool led the Chieftains with 17 points.
Bellefontaine hosts London on Saturday for another CBC Kenton Trail contest.
