A 57-year-old Bellefontaine man died Thursday in a 3:40 p.m. crash on State Route 347 at U.S. Route 33, troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol report.
Billy Cowan was transported by a squad to Memorial Hospital in Marysville, where he died.
He had exited from eastbound U.S. 33 and failed to yield from a stop sign at the end of the exit ramp.
His car traveled into the path of a northbound cargo van driven by Thomas Klopfenstein, 50, of Wapakoneta. After the initial collision, Cown’s car traveled into the southbound lane of S.R. 347 and was struck head on by a car operated by Melissa Ragland, 38, of Springfield.
Klopfenstein and Ragland were not injured in the collisions.
Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have contributed to the crash, troopers report. The investigation continues.
Ohio Department of Transportation crews and personnel from the Perry Township and Allen Township fire and squad departments assisted at the scene.
