Free smoke detectors available in Belle Center
Belle Center area residents can sign up this week to have smoke detectors installed in their home at no charge. The American Red Cross is providing the service this Saturday, Oct. 15, Belle Center Mayor Teresa Johnston said. Anyone who wants to sign up for the service may do so by visiting the village office on or before 9 a.m. Saturday. The office is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. |
A decorative signpost advertising Belle Center’s local businesses soon will go up at the intersection of Buckeye and Keller streets after council approved its purchase Tuesday evening.
The sign will be similar to the ones in downtown Bellefontaine and will feature names of businesses, Mayor Teresa Johnston reported after the short monthly meeting. The cost, which is being paid from village funds, is not to exceed $3,000, according to council’s motion.
