Nashville fiddler to have intimate Thursday evening performance
Guitarist Jordan Tice performs on the stage of the Holland Theatre, surrounded by an intimate audience during a 2017 show. Anyone who has ever wondered what it might be like to share the stage with a Nashville recording artist can fulfill that fantasy during a Thursday evening performance at the Holland Theatre.
Mike Barnett, who currently holds the fiddle chair with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, as well as the Bryan Sutton Band, will host an intimate evening for up to 90 people on the stage of the Holland Theatre beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday.
The performance is the latest in the historic theater’s new Backstage Pass concerts, in which the audience actually has a seat on the stage facing the musicians and looking out into the Dutch-themed auditorium.
Barnett will be joined by Jordan Tice, a guitarist with the band Hawktail who was the first performer to play in the Holland’s Backstage Pass format. Wesley Corbett, of the Molly Tuttle Band, will round ut the trio on banjo.
The intimate style shows allow the artists to share a more personal experience with potential new fans, Holland Managing Director Chris Westhoff said.
“These show works well because, first, they’re affordable,” he said. “Thursday is a travel day for the artists and this allows the fans to form a nice relationship with Nashville artists.
“Also, musicians like Mike Barnett don’t have a huge name for themselves outside of certain circles, so this gives them exposure to a new audience. Plus it’s an interesting gig for them; it’s a cool room and vibey — a nice little setup for everyone.”
