Arthur C. Metz, 91, of Bellefontaine, passed away Sunday evening, April 18, 2021, at Mary Rutan Hospital.
Arthur was born in Bellefontaine on December 4, 1929, to the late Milton Edward and Lenora (Barnhart) Metz. He married the former Martha Bradford on July 8, 1948, in Boone County, Kentucky, and she preceded him in death on September 13, 2012. He was also preceded in death by brothers George and Earl Metz, and sisters Lorraine Spencer, Allie Diehl, and Charlene Mitchell.
Arthur is survived by children: Sandy (Kim) Titus of Zanesfield, Phillip (Rita) Metz of Bellefontaine, Christine (Brian) Crawford of Zanesfield; eight grandchildren: Stacie (Jeff) Coy of Zanesfield, Amy (Chad) Stahler of Zanesfield, Beth (Ryan) Dickson of Lakeview, Rori Metz of Marysville, Brandy (Steve) Firestone of Dublin, Matt (Jillian) Metz of Zanesfield, Tara (David) King of West Liberty, and Kristopher (Morgan) Crawford of Worthington; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arthur was very proud of his years working and retiring as a machinist for Conrail. He had also worked for 10 years at Rockwell International as a machinist. With his wife Martha, they owned and operated the Dutch Mill for many years. Arthur enjoyed watching Lawrence Welk, following the stock market, and growing plants – especially his African Violets. Most of all, Arthur was always there for everyone.
Friends may call on Wednesday, April 21, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine. Pastor Wayne Downing will officiate Arthur’s funeral on Thursday, April 22, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Zanesfield Cemetery.
