Arlene Harman Bechtel, 93, of West Mansfield, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Logan Acres in Bellefontaine.
A 1947 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, she worked with Huntington National Bank for many years. She enjoyed assisting at the West Mansfield Lion’s Club and always helped work the club dinners. She was a longtime member of the West Mansfield United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, and she was also a very active member of the Logan County Senior Center. Arlene always thoughtfully remembered to send birthday cards to family.
Born March 4, 1929 in Bellefontaine, she was the daughter of the late Oliver C. and Mattie Lesta (Lapp) Harman. On July 10, 1959 at the First Friends Church in Bellefontaine, she married her husband, Richard G. Bechtel and he preceded her in death on February 17, 1999. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her twin brothers, Lloyd and Floyd Harman; sisters-in-law, JoAnn and Jean Harman; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lloyd (Doc) and Mary Lou McNamee and nephews, Thomas and Gary Harman.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Linda Hughes, Luann Culp, Lorre Culp, Leesa McNamee, Diana Skidmore, Rebecca Morris, Steve Harman, Jeff Harman, Chuck Harman and Chris Harman; along with numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at the Wilson Funeral Home, Schnurrenberger Chapel, 222 W. Center St., West Mansfield. Pastor John Rozewicz will officiate and burial will follow at the Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call prior to the service on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
