A local group is moving toward its goal of eventually returning an animal shelter to Logan County, but in the meantime they are working on projects that will help control the animal population.
Animal Haven, which formed in the aftermath of the closure of the Top of Ohio Pet Shelter nearly a year ago, met with Logan County Commissioners Dustin Wickersham and John Bayliss and Logan County Dog Warden Tim Klingelhofer on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the group’s progress.
A year ago this month, the Humane Society Serving Logan County announced it was closing the Top of Ohio Pet Shelter for financial reasons. The commissioners identified the Union County Humane Society as the best alternative to having a local shelter and signed a contract to accept local stray dogs.
