A 2-year-old Amish boy was taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital after the buggy he was in was struck by a motorist with a suspended license on the morning of Christmas Eve, deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report.
Daniel J. Schwartz, 28, of Maplewood, and his son, Jacob were eastbound on State Route 47 near County Road 35 about 8:30 a.m. Sunday when they were struck from behind by a minivan driven by Tara L. Snyder, 33, of Bellefontaine. After the collision, Snyder’s van traveled off the left side of the road and overturned in a field.
Snyder was transported taken to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney by a Perry Port Salem squad. She was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead and multiple counts of driving under suspension.
Riverside EMS also responded and took Jacob to the Dayton hospital.
