Two Bellefontaine men were charged Tuesday with trafficking in heroin, and one of the suspects was later hospitalized and had to be revived after ingesting the narcotic in an attempt to avoid law enforcement detection.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department report Cody Watt and Alec Berry, both 26, were arrested about 8:11 p.m. Tuesday and charged with felony counts of trafficking in heroin following an investigation by Washington Township police.
While being checked in to the Logan County Jail, Berry admitted to having swallowed heroin in an attempt to avoid officers locating it. He was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital by law enforcement and became unresponsive in the back seat of an officer’s cruiser.
Berry was rushed to the hospital and Narcan had to be administered in order to revive him.
Watt was booked into jail and charged with trafficking in heroin.
Charges against Berry are pending for trafficking, as well as for tampering with evidence and possession of heroin.
