Northwest State Community College recognizes organization as a difference maker
Adriel Inc.’s Northwest and Northcentral Ohio foster care services were recognized recently by Northwest State Community College with a Making A Difference Award for their commitment to making a positive impact on the people of Northwest Ohio.
The social services agency strives each day to provide quality care to children in the spirit of Christian love, the facility stated in a news release.
Adriel administers foster care services to 44 counties in Ohio and operates a residential facility in West Liberty.
Todd Hanes, CEO, accepted the award at the event which honors an individual, business and organization and serves as a fundraiser benefiting the college’s student scholarships.
“Our Toledo and Archbold offices work every day to find placements, and work with our foster placements and foster families,” said Todd Hanes. “Typically, it is work that is difficult. For a child who is removed from the home, that day — it is the worst day of their life,” he concluded.
“The Making a Difference awards honors those who have made a positive impact in the six-county region served by Northwest State,” said Robbin Wilcox, foundation director of development at NSCC. “It is not about what the award recipients have done for the college, but what they have done to change lives in local communities.”
Adriel was founded in West Liberty as the Mennonite Children’s Home. Its mission is to serve children who have no family, or whose family environment is not safe and/or healthy through foster care and residential services.
In 1992, its foster care program expanded to Archbold, and in 2013 to Toledo to specifically support the children of the Northwest Ohio region.
“This is difficult work, it is emotional work and we just love our foster parents,” Mr. Hanes said. “To be recognized for that work is deeply honoring and humbling.”
