Representatives from the Come Play at the Peak Committee gave members of the Bellefontaine Rotary Club an update on their initiative to make local playgrounds accessible to children of all abilities at a recent meeting.
Bellefontaine Intermediate School teacher and Dare to Be Aware Club Advisor Tracy Gregg said that the Come Play at the Peak Committee recently met with three different playground companies. They selected Playworld Midstates to create a plan to overhaul Kaleidoscope Playground in Mary Rutan Park to make it accessible to all children.
The committee is currently researching grant opportunities and other fundraisers to pay for project costs.
One year ago members of the BIS Dare to Be Aware Club took the idea of playground accessibility to Bellefontaine’s Joint Recreation District Committee.
“It’s been humbling and nice to see everybody get behind this project,” Gregg told Rotary members.
