Jaiden Lawrence loved visiting the Chippewa Neighborhood Outreach Center and just hanging out with his friends when he had any spare time, whether that was after school or during the summer months. The center at 13976 Ironwood Ave., Lakeview, is just a short walk from his father’s house.
The 15-year-old often could be found at the basketball court outside shooting hoops, one of his favorite hobbies, his mother, Paula, recalled Wednesday. She said the center held a special place in his heart for all of his growing up years spent there.
“This place was like a second family for him,” she said. “He enjoyed all of the activities and the support that they offer. He was in his element being around his friends and the staff here.”
