Members of the Rushsylvania Village Council resolved in a special meeting Monday to proceed with a 3-mill replacement levy to fund current expenses for the village.
The property tax would raise $14,200 per year for five years, Logan County Auditor Jack Reser said.
Council approved two resolutions Monday certifying their intention to proceed, and amounts generated by the levy
The levy has helped fund operations in the village since 2004, and has been approved by voters three times previously.
It appears in the form of a replacement levy because council updated ballot language to reflect updated property tax valuations from the Logan County Auditor’s office. With an increase in estimated property values, comes more revenue generated by the levy, according to discussion during the meeting.
Previously, the levy raised a little more than $12,000 per year.
Paperwork must be filed with the Logan County Board of Elections by Feb. 6 in order to appear in the May 7 election.
