An overwhelming majority of voters in the Riverside Local School District approved in Tuesday’s election the income tax replacement levy that will reduce the school district’s income tax from its current 1.75 percent to 1.5 percent.
The ballot issue received an approximately 75.62 percent passage rate of 974 votes to 314 votes, according to unofficial totals.
“We’re feeling great this morning,” Superintendent Scott Mann said today. “I’m super proud of this community and all of the support that they gives us.”
The superintendent said the proposed replacement levy represents the second time in recent years the district has lowered its income tax, which originally was passed at the rate of 2 percent. The current 1.75 percent levy expires at the end of 2019.
“We’re trying to be great stewards of the community’s money, and since we’re in a good place financially, we’re thrilled to be able to pass that reduction along to the taxpayers.”
