Ohio Supreme Court Justice Mary DeGenaro told local Republicans the judiciary is the guardian of the republic when it fulfills its constitutional responsibilities.

“When the public sees the judiciary legislating from the bench, they become distrustful of government and judges,” the justice said during Monday’s lunchtime meeting at the Harold Kerr American Legion Post 173.
But if the judiciary sticks to its path of following and applying the law then the republic will remain strong, she said.
Judges are to keep the executive branch in check and make sure the legislature’s laws are Constitutional, she said.
