Despite the strong thunderstorms and torrential rain showers that struck the Logan County area Thursday evening, the sunshine returned Friday and local gardeners still were able to pull off impressive entries in the day three open class flower show.

Bellefontaine resident Rosilynn Miller received a queen of the roses award for her white hybrid tea rose entry, and Judy Bozman of Rushsylvania won the princess of the roses honor for her white miniature roses.
Doris Hager received her second best of show award of the week Friday for her artistic design entry in the Virgin Islands National Park category. The DeGraff Garden Club president said she incorporated lilies from her garden, along with curly willow and hosta leaves into her piece that features a “syngeristic design” in ceramic containers.
Bozman won the reserve honor in artistic design for her entry in the Badlands National Park category featuring dried items.
