Winter, who began his career playing at local bars in Central Ohio before taking his act across the country, encouraged the fans to be involved from the start.
At the beginning of the concert, he instructed those sitting on chairs in the infield to get on their feet and crowd around the stage.
“You are at a concert, let’s get up,” Winter shouted.
Winter and his four band mates each wore a T-shirt featuring a logo of the five area high schools.
Throughout an 18-song set list that included a mix of cover hits as well as some original work, the 28-year-old Winter told the story of his transformation as an artist.
“Just a couple years ago, I was signing in little bars in front of six or seven people staring at the wall because I was so backward,” he said. “Now, great fans like you have allowed me to take my music all over this country.”
He began the show with a tribute to his roots, singing an original song titled “Ohio.”
