Judith “Judy” Ann Dysert Grubbs, 83, of Indian Lake, OH passed away peacefully early Friday morning, March 1, 2024, at Logan Acres Care Center, Bellefontaine, OH.
Judy was born on August 17, 1940, in Bellefontaine, a daughter of the late Henry “Shorty” and Ethel Willoby Dysert. She married Robert E. Grubbs at Huntsville United Methodist Church, and he preceded her in death.
Judy is survived by her sister, Stephanie Dysert and brother, Greg Dysert, both of Indian Lake.
Judy was a Huntsville High School Hunters and graduated in 1958. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Ohio Northern University. Judy was a member of Indian Lake Community Church and former member of Huntsville United Methodist Church in her earlier years.
She was also a member of Indian Lake Area Historical Society She shared her musical talent by playing at many churches throughout Logan County, and for many weddings, and funerals.
She was a music teacher her entire career, starting at Lincolnview Schools in Van Wert, OH. Soon after, she continued her career as a music teacher at Indian Lake School District, teaching at Lakeview Elementary, where she positively influenced three generations of Indian Lake students. Judy created “The Stingers”, a 5th grade singing group that performed all over Ohio, including places as Cincinnati Reds Ball Parks and the Ohio Statehouse.
Judy loved her students, and the Indian Lake Community. After retirement, she could be seen at most Indian Lake Schools activities, greeting her many former students and friends, and supporting current ones. Judy will be missed by all who knew her.
Pastors Karen Blackburn and Jim Ellington will begin funeral services at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 7, at Indian Lake Community Church, 329 E. Main St., Russells Point, OH.
Visitation is Wednesday, March 6, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the church and Thursday one hour prior to services. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be given in Judy’s memory to Stingers Foundation, or Indian Lake Community Church.
