Indian Lake mustered just two hits, but the Lakers took advantage of their scoring opportunities to beat host North Union 7-1 in a Central Buckeye Conference baseball game Monday.
The Lakers improve to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the CBC. The Wildcats fall to 0-4, 0-2.
Indian Lake benefited from three North Union errors.
The Lakers scored three runs in the opening inning and put four runs in the board in the fifth.
Gavin Lones had a double and three RBI to lead the Lakers offense.
Lones also earned the win on the mound. He struck out 10 and allowed just one hit in five innings.
Evan Manley worked the last two innings for the Lakers.
The Lakers are back in action Wednesday at North Union.

Pirates edged by Bees in 10
Host Bethel manufactured an unearned run in the bottom of the 10th inning to clip Riverside 1-0 in a Three Rivers Conference baseball game Monday.
The Pirates drop to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the TRC. Bethel is now 2-4, 1-0.
Warren Shockey pitched 9 1/3 innings of shutout baseball for the Pirates before Bethel was able to plate a run with one out in the bottom of the 10th. Shockey gave up five hits, walked three and struck out eight.
Bethel did not get a base runner past first until the ninth inning.
Zander Crouch went 2-4 to lead Riverside’s offense.
The Pirates are back in action today at home against Troy Christian.

Raiders tripped up by Graham
Graham derailed Benjamin Logan 7-3 in a Central Buckeye Conference baseball game Monday.
The Raiders fall to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the CBC. Graham moves to 2-0, 1-0.
Ben Logan had five hits on the day. Hayden Kennaw and Hunter Peterson each had double and an RBI to lead the Raiders.
The Raiders are back in action today at home against Coldwater.

Cougars top Chiefs
Bellefontaine’s baseball team opened Central Buckeye Conference action with a 4-0 loss to host Kenton Ridge on Monday.
The Chiefs are now 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the league. The Cougars improve to 2-1, 1-0.
Kenton Ridge took a 1-0 lead with a run in the third inning and added two in the fourth and one in the sixth.

Triad blanked by Panthers
Triad’s baseball team lost to visiting Fairbanks 10-0 in five innings Monday.
The Cardinals are 0-1 overall and 0-1 in the Ohio Heritage Conference. Fairbanks improves to 2-2, 1-0.
Triad was plagued by five errors and did not have a hit against the Panthers’ Taylor Andrews, who struck out nine.
The Panthers led 5-0 through four innings and then put the game away with five runs in the fifth.
Triad is back in action today at West Jefferson.

Tigers drop OHC game to WJ
West Liberty-Salem was unable to contain visiting West Jefferson on Monday as the Tigers fell 18-6 in Ohio Heritage Conference baseball action.
The Tigers are now 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the OHC. West Jeff improves to 3-1, 2-0.
WL-S allowed 13 hits and committed three errors.
The Tigers held a 5-1 lead after two innings, but the Roughriders scored a run in the third and three in the top of the fourth to make it 5-5.
WL-S went ahead 6-5 with a run in the bottom of the fourth, but West Jeff countered with two runs in the fifth and 11 in the seventh.
Payton Knight had a pair of hits to lead the Tigers.
WL-S is back in action today at Mechanicsburg.
