A Russells Point man was charged with a felony count of abduction early Saturday morning after a domestic-related incident at his residence.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Ethan T. Shoffner, 21, of 124 Chase St., Apt. 5, Russells Point, was lodged in the Logan County Jail after the incident.
Deputies were dispatched to his address about 3:10 a.m. Saturday on a report of a domestic dispute, and spoke with Shoffner’s live-in girlfriend after she had escaped to a neighbor’s residence, with their 2-year-old son.
The girlfriend said Shoffner had arrived home intoxicated around midnight and reportedly pulled her out of bed. She said he began making accusations against her and then got out his gun, threatening to shoot certain individuals or to harm himself.
The defendant reportedly would not allow his girlfriend to leave the residence for about two hours. During that time, she said he choked her, pushed her and also head-butted her. Deputies observed that she had swelling and bruising to her nose.
His girlfriend stated that Shoffner also broke off the leg of a chair and threatened to hit her with it while she was holding their 2-year-old, telling her that he had “good aim” and wouldn’t hit their son.
He also allegedly broke her phone so she could not call law enforcement.
Deputies said Shoffner had left the residence and was located at his mother’s residence at 11431 Elm St., Lakeview. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail.
The defendant told deputies that he never did anything to threaten his girlfriend or make her feel like she couldn’t leave. A report also has been forwarded to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office for the consideration of additional charges, including felonious assault, endangering children, domestic violence, disrupting public services and using weapons while intoxicated.
