A security contract with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office was approved Wednesday in a regular meeting of the Logan County Fair Board.
For the fifth straight year, the sheriff’s office will charge the board $4,000 for around-the-clock security during fair week, according to a letter sent from Sheriff Andrew J. Smith to the fair board.
That coverage provides as many as four on-duty deputies during peak hours, and also calls for additional patrolling hours at night, fair board president Christie Barns said.
“If any of you see any of the sheriff’s deputies maybe (you) want to give them a pat on the back for all their work,” Ms. Barns said during the meeting. “Law enforcement will be here 24-7 during the fair, and we appreciate all the hard work they do.”
