Nicholas A. Morris, 37, of 200 S. Detroit St., was charged Tuesday with obstructing official business and failure to disclose personal information and served warrants for failure to appear, failure to comply with a police order and abduction.
Around 1:20 a.m., an officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department on patrol observed Morris riding a bicycle without lights in the area of Sandusky Avenue and Pratt Street.
The officer activated cruiser lights to initiate a stop but Morris rode off northbound on Walker Street. He turned eastbound in an alley in the 300 block and tossed two pizza boxes.
He hopped off the bicycle but fell as he attempted to run. He tried to hide between two cars but was taken into custody at gunpoint.
Morris was handcuffed and other officers arrived on scene.
When asked to identify himself, Morris provided a false name and date of birth.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail on the warrants.
• Toshia M. Jones, 32, of Columbus, was arrested Sunday on felony charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drugs. She also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
She also was held on a statewide felony possession of drugs warrant out of Ashland County.
Acting on a tip, an officer located her unoccupied sport utility vehicle in the parking lot of Hyland Hills shopping plaza, 878 E. Sandusky Ave., around 7 p.m. and set up surveillance. After 90 minutes, Jones was observed walking along the store fronts.
The officer approached and confirmed her identity. She told the officer she was four months pregnant and needed to get a bite to eat before he arrested her.
The officer did not allow her to go inside a restaurant and detained her as he confirmed the warrant. Once confirmed, the officer informed her she was under arrest and placed her inside a cruiser with another officer watching over her.
Ketamine powder was found inside a plastic bag in her purse. She was transported to jail.
The department’s K-9 unit was dispatched the parking lot and the dual purpose canine alerted to Jones’ SUV as he was walked around the outside.
Officers had the keys to the SUV and unlocked it for a probable cause search.
Methamphetamine, a pipe for consuming methamphetamine and several pills were found in the vehicle.
Apartment resident charged for loud music
Shawn M. Scott, 48, of 500 Gunntown Road, Apt. D11, was issued a summons for loud amplifying devices Saturday.
Officers were dispatched to the complex at 6 a.m. and met with a resident of an apartment below Scott’s apartment. The officer could hear music as he met with the complainant. The officer followed the music to Scott’s apartment and knocked several times before rousing Scott from sleep.
The officer noted several prior incidents involving Scott.
