Dorothy Leota Poling, age 92, of Broadway, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Memorial Gables in Marysville.
On February 18, 1930 Dorothy was born to the late Kenneth and Bernice (Laughrey) Roberts. Dorothy grew up in Raymond graduating from Raymond Northwestern School in 1948. While in school, Dorothy met Owen D. Poling; The two were married on June 4, 1948. Together Dorothy and Owen moved to Broadway in 1956 and operated Poling Trucking. Dorothy worked as the bookkeeper for the family business. For several years, Dorothy worked at the Short Stop in Marysville.
Dorothy enjoyed cooking for her family and canning food from her garden. She was always quick with a smile and could talk to anyone. Dorothy was a past Eastern Star member and attended the Methodist Church in Broadway. Recently, Dorothy attended The Church of Christ in Christian Union in Raymond.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Michael L. (Kathy Goldsberry) Poling of Plain City, Margo L. (Gene) Mathys of West Mansfield, and Cindy A. Hopkins of Marion; grandchildren, Blake (Dimi) Mathys, Brian (Becky) Poling, Melanie (Howard) Chandler, and Jennifer (Donnie) Baloga; 9 great-grandchildren; and brother, Gary Roberts.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Owen; and brothers Jim and Bob Roberts.
Visitation will be held at Ingram Funeral Home on Thursday, September 29, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A 1 p.m. funeral will follow at the funeral home with Pastor Warren Goble officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, North Lewisburg.
