“In the first game, we came out swinging the bats from the get-go,” said Riverside head coach Andy Phelps. “We batted around in the first inning, which set the tone for the rest of the game. The girls just kept putting the ball in play and hitting open spots in the field.
“The second game we came out in the first inning and put up three runs. However, that is all we could muster,” said Phelps. “We left 11 runners on base. We just could not get the key hit to drive in more runs. Urbana loaded the bases a couple times and came away with zero runs thanks to pitching and solid defense. As a whole day, it is always great to escape with two wins against a good team.”
