Bellefontaine City Schools Board of Education members recognized the academic excellence of Bellefontaine High School seniors and also were updated on the five-year financial forecast at their Monday evening meeting.
Members announced the recipients of the Board of Education scholarships, which will be further detailed in the Examiner’s graduation tab to be published next month. Senior scholarship winners include: Morgan Burden, Milah Hunt, Vivian Eader, Emma Heath, Elizabeth Marcum, Samuel Moreland, Palmer Neeld, Brielle Shultz, William Patterson, Jacob Reed, Gage Crouch, Lily Turner, Ethan Yoder, Kyeler Rhoades, Katie Pool and Gabriella Stolly.
The board also approved the five-year forecast presented by BCS Treasurer Josh Wasson.
Wasson said the district is facing deficit spending, which he reviewed with the board.
It’s still too early to evaluate the impact of the Substitute Emergency Operating Levy that voters passed last fall, he noted. The five-year forecast that will be presented in November will give a better picture of the levy’s impact.
In personnel matters, several administrative contracts were approved, including: five-year — Shanel Henry, executive director of instructional services; and three-year — Dr. Pam Noeth, BHS principal; Whitney Stolly, BIS associate principal; and Matthew Heaston, district technology coordinator
The board went into executive session for the annual evaluation of BCS Superintendent Brad Hall.The results of the evaluation will be shared at the next meeting, slated for 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 20, in the Distance Learning Center.
In other action, the board:
• accepted the resignations of: Emily Clinehens, business; Sarah High, math; Dawn Merrick, intervention specialist; Katie Rychener, business/marketing/DECA; Judith Withrow, intervention specialist; Lena Coleman, educational aides; Julie Lenhart, educational aide; Nichole Watkins, paraprofessional; all effective May 23; and Robin Boots, intervention specialist, effective Aug. 1;
