A team of two Bellefontaine High School sophomores, Reid Gleason and Ryoma Kawakami, received first place at the recent Ohio State VEX Robotics Competition in Marion, and have earned a spot at the international competition.

They will compete at the 2016 VEX Robotics World Championship High School Division in Louisville, Ky., during April.
At the state competition, Ryoma and Reid, who made up Team 9185 Kickin-Bots, competed against the top 52 teams from across the state. They won the first-place position, along with their two alliance teams.
Also at the state event, a Bellefontaine Middle School team of students Miriam Irick, David Moody, Brandon Moon and Sam Moreland competed against 26 teams and received fifth place in the skills competition.
Honda of America Mfg. and Dr. Michael Gleason provided financial support for the district’s eight robotics teams this school year as they competed in various competitions.
