Benjamin Logan High School and Bellefontaine High School are collaborating to demonstrate appreciation for first responders on the 20th anniversary of 9/11.
To mark this milestone, local first responders will be recognized at the Benjamin Logan Raiders vs. Bellefontaine Chieftains football game, which takes place Friday, Sept. 10, beginning at 6:15 p.m, at Benjamin Logan.
First responders are asked to make reservations by Sept. 8 at https://forms.gle/dGTgergoDGiLA5kU7 or directly e-mail [email protected].
First responders should arrive at the football game no later than 6:45 p.m. in uniform at the pass gate to be admitted free into the game. From there, meet at the south end of the track to await further instruction.
Student leaders from both schools will offer welcome for the honored guests. Seats will be designated on each side of the stadium.
During the halftime show, the marching bands from Benjamin Logan and Bellefontaine will perform patriotic songs to commemorate the event.
In conjunction with this event, the two school districts also are conducting a joint patriotic T-shirt fundraiser, with orders due Tuesday, Aug. 31.
“The collaborative patriotic T-shirt fundraiser at both schools will help sustain a place for remembrance, reflection, and learning for years to come, ensuring that future generations will know the story of 9/11,” school officials said.
“Both communities will take part in honoring the memories of those killed on 9/11 as they proudly wear these shirts and stand as one.”

The proceeds from the Patriotic T-shirt fundraiser will allow BL and BCS to contribute a monetary gift to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum located at the World Trade Center in New York City.
“The hope is this gift will help to support the mission of the museum in sharing the stories of hope and resilience, sacrifice and service, good will and community that inspired us all in the aftermath of 9/11 and do so again today. Twenty years later, these lessons are more important than ever,” officials said.
T-shirts may be picked up at the respective high school’s main office.
Families of the first responders should purchase tickets for the game at the Benjamin Logan Box Office website, http://hs.benjaminlogan.org/benjamin_logan_box_office.
