The Don M. & Margaret Hilliker YMCA, 300 Sloan Blvd, has complied with state health orders during the past year, and representatives said this week, they are feeling hopeful as state health orders are lifted.
“We recognize the coronavirus is still present, and the safety for all our staff, members and program participants remains our number one priority,” said Kody Graham, district executive director, Don M. & Margaret Hilliker YMCA.
“The lifting of the state health orders gives us the opportunity to serve more in our community as we expand hours through the week and into Saturday, and soon, we will have Sunday hours.”
Since the fall of 2020, many of the YMCA’s programs like pickleball, lap swim and water exercise have been available once again following the state-mandated shutdown.
Even while this location experienced the temporary shut down in the spring of 2020, the YMCA continued to serve Logan County through food distribution drives and outreach to seniors.
“We are here to serve our community and help all people reach their full potential,” Graham said.
Currently, the Y has several group fitness classes like Zumba, cycling and yoga to choose from and sports like pickleball and basketball to sign up for. Registration for swim lessons is currently under way for all ages and the facility is getting ready to welcome back the Hilliker Heat swim team.
