The West Liberty Splash Pad Grand Opening and “Put a Lid on It” event has been rescheduled for 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 5, following inclement weather last weekend.
The Village of West Liberty has received 71 children’s helmets in sizes small/medium and large/extra-large from the Ohio Chapter of American Academy of Pediatrics “Put A Lid on It.”
Line-up for participants begins at 9:30 a.m. The first 71 children arriving at the event will get a stamp on their hand to be eligible for a free bicycle helmet and a goodie bag containing discounts, maps and a free ice cream coupon. Once the ribbon cutting ceremony is over at 10 a.m., those items will be handed out.
The West Liberty Police Department will be demonstrating and providing bicycle safety and children are invited to take their bicycles.
The West Liberty Fire Department will provide fire safety tips with their fire trucks available to view with Sparky the Fire Dog.
Logan County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Cole Piatt will be in attendance with his K9 partner for a “Thor” for a Meet and Greet.
The Village of West Liberty provides water and donuts for all, with Cindee Boyd at Lions Club Ball Park.
Participants are asked to park in the designated parking areas only and not in grass near the splash pad. Also, trash cans will be available for any and all trash that you may have.
Also Saturday morning, the West Liberty Lions Club host a Pancake Breakfast at the large shelterhouse from 7 to 11 a.m. Cost is by donations. They will be serving pancakes, sausage, egg casserole and drinks.
