A Ben Logan graduate and local business owner has been appointed to fill a vacant seat on the Benjamin Logan Schools’ Board of Education.
Chris Larsen was appointed Monday in a special school board meeting. He fills a vacancy left by former board member Tod Johnson, who resigned March 2 due to a move out of the district.
“I am looking forward to serving on the Benjamin Logan Board of Education. My wife and I have five children, four of whom graduated from Benjamin Logan,” Larsen said. I own and operate Larsen Woodworking LLC, providing custom cabinetry, millwork and various construction materials to contractors and homeowners.
“There are several Benjamin Logan graduates employed by my company and they are among the best assets a business can have – hard working and conscientious.”
Larsen said he views the opportunity to serve on the school board as a way to give back to the community.
“I view this as an opportunity to serve the educational community that has been so important to my family and business,” he said. When I heard Tod Johnson had left his position on the board, I was prompted to express my interest in filling the open seat.
I also understand that each life experience provides opportunities for personal growth and development. I look forward to working with, and learning from, the current board members,” the new board member concluded.
Prior to his resignation, Johnson had also served as the board president. Previous board vice president Deb Johnson has since been appointed president. Karen Dill assumed the role as board vice president.
Larsen fills the remainder of Johnson’s term, which expires Dec. 31, 2023.
Monday’s board meeting also included an executive session for the purpose of discussing employment of personnel.
